Hart and Huntington MX Nationals 2012 Round 9

Melbourne, VIC (23rd August 2012) – The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team head to Moree MX track for the 9th round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals.

A well groomed Moree MX track meant Sunday’s racing would be some of the finest coming into the 2nd last round of the series. Tire choice was also going to be another factor as it looked like the track might dry out towards the end of the day, making the riders switch to a harder pack tire.
Lewis again came into this round carrying a wrist injury which affected his riding in Appin, but he proved there he can still ran top 15 in the MX2 class. His injury is affecting him on the throttle side of the bike which doesn’t allow him full movement in his wrist, this cause’s Lewis to basically move the throttle with his elbow (as you will see in the latest web episode clip). With a mid pack start in moto 1 Lewis was able to consistently hold 15th place during the race, with a short 5 minute break Lewis was back on the line for moto 2. Again struggling with his wrist Lewis rode out the 2nd moto in 15th place and grabbed valuable championship points. With the 3rd and final moto up this was going to be the most painful for Lewis as moto 3 is the 30 minute plus moto, but as tough as Lewis is he fought his way up to 12th position for the final moto. Lewis now sits in 11th place in the MX2 championship.

DMC came into this round as fresh as he has been all year. Dan was looking to finally put his Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide Suzuki on the podium for the first time all season. With some great qualifying times DMC was 2 seconds off the leader which put him in 9th. With a cracking start Dan was out of the first corner in top 3, he held this place for a few laps but a couple of small mistakes would see him finish in 8th place for moto 1. With the short 5 minute break DMC was on the line again, McCoy launched off the line in moto 2 again running top 3 out of the first turn. Dan battle with the front runners for the entire moto, he held onto a well-earned 6th place. During the lunch break DMC changed his tire choice to the Pirelli 554 mid hard as the track was drying out which caused it to harden up. McCoy again put his RMZ450 into a top 5 spot coming out of the first turn for moto 3, his starts had been terrific all day! With a few battles going on Dan was strong enough to complete moto 3 in 8th place which would see him take an overall of 8th on the day. McCoy has now moved into 9th place in the MX1 championship.

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team will head to Coolum QLD for the final round of Monster Energy MX Nationals on August 25th and August 26th for a two day schedule race.

Round 8 Of The AU MX Nationals from Appin NSW

Melbourne, VIC (2nd August 2012) – The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team head to Appin MX track for the 8th round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals.

A primed looking Appin track on Saturday only meant we were in for an awesome days racing on Sunday, with perfect weather conditions on Sunday this was DMC’s home track to take advantage of.

Coming off an injury to the weekend prior from a photoshoot, Lewis was to face an uphill battle with his throttle wrist. With Suzuki Racesafe doing the best they could on Lewis’s wrist it still could not eliminate the pain factor. With Lewis qualifying just outside the top 20 he knew the rest of the days moto’s were about championship points to keep that 10 place in the MX2 class. Both moto’s 1 and 2 Lewis had mid pack starts and rode solid considering to finish both moto 1 and 2 in 17th place which would grab him 8 championship points. During the lunch break a lot of icing on his wrist went down before the 30 minute plus moto. Again for moto 3 Lewis was just outside the top 15, but his effort was not lost seeing him complete a growling 30 minute plus moto in 16th place to clinch 5 precious championship pints. Lewis still sits in 10th place in the MX2 class and can rest his wrist during the 3 week break before Round 9.

With Dan’s first home town race and a lot of DMC’s fans Dan was keen to put his Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide Suzuki on the podium for the home town crowd. A few bike issues in practice meant DMC was force to ride his practice bike for qualifying. Only 2 second off the fastest qualifier left DMC in 8th for his session. With Dan first moto his start was around the top 10 mark, DMC was defiantly look on pace and was riding his spare bike smooth, he continued to maintain a 10th place in moto 1. With a great start in moto 2 Dan look like he was going to crack the top 5, but unfortunately he came together with Brad Anderson and was un able to finish moto 2 due to bike problems. With time to rest up for moto 3 DMC was ready for the 30 minute plus moto. With a cracking start Dan was inside the top 5 after the first corner and held this for a few laps. DMC rode solid through out the moto to finish off in 10th place, with an overall just outside the top 10 on the day Dan still sits in 10th place in the MX1 championship.

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team will head to Moree NSW for round 9 of Monster Energy MX Nationals on August 19th for a one day schedule race.

H&H AU MX Nationals 2012 – Round 6 Hervey

Melbourne, VIC (5th July, 2012) – The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team headed north for round 6 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals which was held in Hervey Bay QLD. With a much need mid season break, team riders Lewis Woods and Dan McCoy were ready to battle again.

With decent weather during the weekend the only issue was the track. It looked to be in good condition on the Saturday but straight after first practice on Sunday it deteriorating quickly, leaving holes everywhere with quite a few boggy sections where some riders were actually getting bogged.

Fresh off his 2nd place overall in the Victorian MX Titles in the Championship, Lewis was on a mission to put his Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide Suzuki on the podium for the first time this year. With a solid qualifying time Lewis then prepared for Moto’s 1 and 2. Straight off the line Lewis meant business running around 7th place after the first turn. Lewis rode solid and smart the entire race without any mistakes, he then worked his way up to 4th place mid race. Without giving up his position with a hard charging Ford Dale, Lewis finished in 4th which is his best result for the year so far. Moto 2 start wasn’t the best with Lewis coming out of the first corner in around 10th place, holding that position with a few laps to go, a lapper cut Lewis off and his bike got stuck together which cost him 2 positions which would see him finish in 12th place. With a short lunch break L-Dub was ready to rumble in the final 30 plus minute. With a cracking start sitting around 5th for most of the first lap Ford Dale then tuck his front wheel into Lewis coming into the back corner heading toward the finish line, both riders went down and basically were dead last. Lewis fought his way through the pack and finished solid in 10th place with an overall off equal 8th on the day which now sees him in 10th position in the MX2 championship.

After spending the majority of his time in the USA while we enjoyed a 6 week break from the MX Nationals, Dan was ready to prove his time was well spent training overseas. Ready for Moto 1 Dan launched off the line and was running in around 5th place after the first turn, he held this for the entire race until bike problems hit causing him to DNF Moto 1. Moto 2 DMC lined up on his spare bike which he had not ridden since he left for the USA 6 weeks ago. With a mid-pack start Dan continued to ride the ever deteriorating track and end Moto 2 in 10th place. With changes to his spare bike for Moto 3 DMC was ready. Again with a great start sitting around 6th place after the first turn Dan rode most of the race in 5th place until yet again bike problems hit with a few laps to go causing him not ride to his 100% capability. This would see Dan fall back to 7th place in Moto 3 which would see him 14th overall on the day and now sitting 10th place in the MX1 championship.

Team H&H AU MX in Coonbarabran last weekend

Melbourne, VIC (19th April, 2012) – The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team headed up for round 2 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals in Coonbarabran last weekend.

Racing at one of the longest and best tracks in Australia the Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team had a lot more preparation to do during the week. The track itself was a lot more physical and tougher than another track in Australia, with lap times reaching 2:30sec this was defiantly set for an endurance race in moto 3, with moto’s 1 and 2 back to back with 5 laps a piece. Weather conditions were perfect all weekend and the with the track crew doing an amazing job on the track we were again set for an awesome weekend of racing.

Coming off great results from round 1 on an open track Lewis was distant to put his Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide Suzuki on the podium. With bad starts each moto this made Lewis’s job even more difficult. Moto 1, moto 2 and moto 3 Lewis struggled to get off the gate in a top 10 position with fighting his way mid pack for all 3 moto’s, Lewis maintained a top 15 spot through the entire weekend. Now sitting in 12th place overall in championship Lewis and the team have gone back to the drawing board and will showcase and new bike suited to his riding style. Be sure to follow L-Dub next weekend as he will be coming out swinging.

With a mixed weekend at round 1 in Coonondale, Dan McCoy was determined to gain championship points which were lost from round 1’s DNF. With a great start in moto 1 and almost pulling the holeshot (Check out the Contour footage in the web episode) DMC seemed to be the crowd favourite in back section with his massive whips. Moto 1 would leave DMC in 7th place and a great start to the day. Again with a good start in moto 2 Dan fought hard finished in 7th place. With no riding during the week as Dan was stuck down with a virus he geared up for moto 3 which was a 30 minute moto. Dan pulled the holeshot and lead the race for 2 laps but not riding during the week eventually caught up to him which saw him finish in 9th place in moto 3, leaving DMC sitting 11th overall in the championship. (Dan McCoy) “The weekend was defiantly better than round 1, and to score points in all 3 races is a plus which we can now build on an overall championship result for myself and the Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team”

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team heads to Wonthaggi, VIC for another 2 day scheduled race Saturday April 28th and Sunday April 29th for the third round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals.
