Chris Blose Podiums in Round 4 of the AU SX from Maitland
Maitland played home to round 4 of the 2011 Super-X season on Saturday 12th November.
All week leading up to the event, the weather forecast was not looking too favourable for racing (rain & storms) – however the weather gods played nice and diverted the rain north.
The day ended up a warm and muggy affair, and our riders, still trying to shake the flu, battled out in the heat and pushed through it.
Pro Lites rider Luke Urek was riding the most consistent he has all season during practice and qualifying. In his heat race, he got taken out on a straight by a lesser skilled privateer rider who obviously needs some work on his corner navigation. In the LCQ, Luke copped an unfortunate front-wheel washout on a landing putting him out of contention. He didn’t let that get him down tho, he was straight into busting out a HUGE turndown and then a one-legger over the finish line which got the crowd cheering, & a big thumbs up from the chequered flag marshal.
Pro Open rider Chris Camilleri got held up around the track in his heat race, and relegated to the LCQ. In the LCQ he had a bad start but pushed on to finish in 5th position. Finishing in 25th for the round.
Our U.S Pro Open Rider, Chris Blose had his best ride for the season. Qualifying 6th fastest, he did well in the heats and got himself a good gate pick in the mains. The main event this week was a 3 race 7 lap affair again. Blose rode really consistently in race 1 and took the win, but got tangled up in the first corner of the second race ending up on the bottom of about 6 bikes to finish second last.
In race 3 Blose re-focused and fought on to finish the race in 3rd – which when tallied up with the other two races, put him in 3rd overall for the afternoon.
Congratulations to Chris Blose on finally making a podium while here in Australia, his and the team’s firs podium for the season!
