Race Report – AU MX Nationals Round 3

Melbourne, VIC (4th May, 2012) – The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide race team had a local round for round 3 of the Monster Energy MX Nationals at Wonthaggi last weekend. Weather conditions were typical Melbourne style, hot one minute cold and windy the next, but again another good weekend of racing was to be.
Wonthaggi track looked to be in prime condition on Saturday before racing even due to some heavy rain during the week, but by Sunday morning the track looked that ruff and beat it almost looked impossible to lay down a solid lap.

Lewis was keen to put his Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide Suzuki on the box for the first time this year. With a solid start from moto 1 lewis maintained a consistent 11th place. A decent start in moto 2 was what Lewis had been looking for all day but this was to end when he had a crash on the last lap which put him back to finish moto 2 in 13th place. With a few bike issue’s that needed to be sorted out during the break this gave Lewis time to prepare for the moto 3 which was a 30 minute moto. At the first turn Lewis was running in around 5th place and held this spot until Ryan Marmont had a massive crash which Lewis got tangled up in. This put Lewis mid pack which he fought his way back to 10th place for moto 3 which put him in 10th place overall for the day. Lewis now sits in 11th place in the MX2 class in the championship.

DMC was in great shape coming into round 3 and with all expects of finally getting a podium for himself and the team. Dan got off to a flying start in moto 1 coming into the first turn around 5th, McCoy rode solid and finish in 7th place. With another cracking start sitting around 5th in the first turn Dan hit a wet patch which caused his RM-Z450 to slide out which ended up in him being run over and even having a burnout ripped on his leg. Coming from dead last McCoy pushed hard through the pack and ended up in 18th place in moto 2. During the break Dan was treated by Suzuki Race Safe for his sore elbows. With a decent top 10 start McCoy rode hard again and finished the race in 10th place giving him 12th place overall on the day. McCoy now sits in 10th place in the MX1 class in championship.

Special thanks to the guys at Exotic Graphix for hooking McCoy and Lewis up with fresh new custom wrapped lids for this round and to Ringmaster Images for pumping out some revised bike graphics.

The Hart and Huntington / InsureMyRide team heads to Wanneroo WA, for another 2 day scheduled race Saturday May 12th and Sunday May 13th for the fourth round of the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals.
